JESS CORNELIUS RELEASES SECOND CALMING ELECTRO-RHYTHM SINGLEBODY MEMORY

Australian-born musician Jess Cornelius has released her latest single ‘Body Memory’, which features an emotional message within a calming electro-rhythm tune.

‘Body Memory’ is the second track the Los Angeles-based singer has released ahead of her debut album Distance, which will hit Australia July 24.

The single has also been released with a brand-new music video that Jess and her partner, Joe, filmed on an iPhone at Lake Isabella, California.

While Jess felt she had so much more to say about the song through an elaborate narrative-based video concept, she ended up shooting the video impromptu.

“At the last minute, we decided to drive to Lake Isabella because of supposed good visuals there. I was grumbling the whole way there about how the location wouldn’t fit with my shot list,” she says.

“But when we got there and I started dancing on rocks, we just threw away the shot list and made it up as we went along. [The video] was also heavily influenced by Laraaji’s videos, obviously.”

Jess began writing the songs of which Distance will comprise when she moved from her hometown of Melbourne, Australia to Los Angeles, looking for a fresh start.

But what was once a geographical distance, the album has developed into celebrating the journey of life; from new beginnings to new perspectives on endings.

Touching on personal topics, from miscarriage in ‘Body Memory’ to the frustrations that come with having a partner, Distance analyses the distance between more than just Jess’ hometown and LA.
