South Australia’s largest celebration of folk culture, the Fleurieu Folk Festival returns to picturesque Willunga this weekend, October 27 to 29, to showcase world-class live performances and entertainment for all ages.
The Fleurieu Folk Festival will take over Willunga Oval, where local musicians Ella and Sienna and Siobhan Owen will join a flock of artists from around the country (and the world) to electrify the stage.
This year’s program, once again under the direction of Valerie Corfield, promises an action-packed weekend with something for everyone, including over 50 acts that showcase a vast array of genres from Indie-Pop, Celtic, Blues, Americana, Roots, Blue Grass and much more.
“The Pigs from Victoria are guaranteed to put a smile on your face and bring out your inner hillbilly and we are so excited to offer a diverse range of acts, workshops, sessions, dance and open mic this year – our 17th Festival!” says Valerie.
Headlining this year, fresh off the release of their debut EP ‘Seven Ways To Say You’re Fine’, Adelaide Hills duo Ella and Sienna will serve up their magic on the 2023 Fleurieu stage.
Award-winning Khristian Mizzi from Victoria is also headlining, bringing along his enchanting and moving lyrics to captivate audiences with his hypnotic voice and charm.
“Remember to bring along your instruments and join in the lead sessions in Pete’s Bar, or put your name down on the board for a spot on the open mic stage in Café AcousticA. The kids activities and entertainment throughout the weekend will keep them engaged and amused. There truly is something for everyone,” says Valerie.
The Space Jams Marquee, back by popular demand, is a youth-orientated safe space for all to flex their artistic expression, embrace the music, and have fun and party.
Made possible through the Festival’s reception of the SA Music Development Office See it LIVE Grant, the Space Jams program is run by entrepreneur and musician Josh Morphett.
Spread across 10 venues there will also be many workshops for you to enjoy and learn the delight of dance, poetry, and spoken word.
Performances and activities aside, the 2023 Fleurieu Folk Festival will host an abundance of vendors for local food, wine, coffee and market stalls that will keep you busy.
With only 3 days to enjoy, head down so you don’t miss out on this action-packed weekend!
