As the final week of Adelaide Fringe kicks into gear, the energy across the city is still buzzing, and Guildhouse and Adelaide Fringe have some exciting news to keep that momentum going.
On Thursday, 2 April, artists and arts workers are invited to gather at Sharehouse for an evening of conversation, insight, and opportunity. Hosted in the unique surroundings of the North Adelaide Railway Station, this free event brings together emerging and established creatives to hear directly from multi-disciplinary artist Claude Creighton about their experience in the Catapult + Adelaide Fringe Mentorship.
Working across sculpture, illustration, performance, and community engagement, Creighton offers a compelling example of what can happen when artists are given the time and support to expand their practice. Through the mentorship, they collaborated with ERTH, one of Australia’s most innovative puppetry companies, under the guidance of Artistic Director Steve Howarth in Sydney. The result? An expansion into ambitious puppetry techniques and new creative directions that push the boundaries of their existing work.
This artist talk is more than a reflection; it’s a window into the process. Attendees will gain insight into how new skills are developed, how mentorship can reshape a practice, and what it means to step into unfamiliar creative territory.
In an exciting announcement, Guildhouse and the Adelaide Fringe will officially launch the callout for the 2027 Catapult + Adelaide Fringe Mentorship. This initiative offers an artist-led mentorship for a visual artist, craft practitioner, or designer, providing invaluable time, guidance, and professional development with a mentor of their choosing. The program culminates in a public artist talk presented as part of the 2027 festival, offering both visibility and a platform for reflection.
Presented in collaboration with Guildhouse and the Adelaide Fringe Foundation, the Guildhouse Catapult program continues to play a vital role in nurturing South Australia’s creative community. It’s an opportunity that not only builds skills but fosters meaningful connections across disciplines and geographies.
Whether you’re an artist considering your next step, a creative curious about mentorship, or simply keen to hear a story of artistic growth, this event promises an engaging and inspiring evening.
