Tusk!FM pay tribute to the music of Fleetwood Mac

On Friday, October 16, two of Adelaide’s favourite tribute bands team up to raise money for CanTeen.

Elvis with the Mac – An Evening Soirée will treat audiences to the sounds of Fleetwood Mac and Elvis while they enjoy a two-course meal at The Police Club.

The twin tribute acts ‘Tusk!FM’ and ‘Matt as Elvis and All the King’s Men’ have prepared a show of flashbacks, fancy pants and a funky beat for your dancing feet.

TuskFm drummer Peter Vawser says the show is an important one because so many of us have been touched by cancer in some way.

“Like many people, most of Tusk!FM have had a friend or loved one impacted by cancer, but recently we have had friends or family whose children have been diagnosed with cancer,” he says.

“This is true also for members of Matt as Elvis and All the King’s Men. We felt that this would be a particularly worthwhile charity to try and raise funds for.”

The evening promises to be a great night of entertainment, and will be held at The Police Club, which Peter says have offered the venue for the cause.

“After The Soul Box sadly closed its doors earlier this year, we went looking for other venues that would be suitable for shows like ours, in particular for Fringe events. When we decided to do the charity function, it was important that we could find a venue that would keep costs to a minimum, to allow us to make as much as we could for the charity we chose, “ he says.

“The Police Club offered the venue free of charge and provided a meal arrangement that would enable us to provide a good amount of the ticket price to go towards CanTeen. They were, from the outset, very keen to engage with the idea for both the charity event and any future shows, including as a Fringe venue.”

As well as The Police Club getting on board to help out, event ticketing company TryBooking are also donating back all booking fees.

There will also be an opportunity to donate during the soirée by way of the evening’s activities.

“We have engaged the services of The Helping Hand Group which provides goods for sale by silent auction for fundraising activities,” Peter says. “There will be musical and sporting memorabilia, as well as some art and jewellery up for auction.

“Proceeds from the auction will go towards our fundraising efforts. We have also had some goods and vouchers donated which will become raffle prizes. And of course, donations will always be accepted on the night!”

The cost is $55, which includes a two-course meal with tea and coffee; beverages can be purchased over the bar.

A representative of CanTeen will give a presentation about their good work, and the two bands will rock your socks off.

Elvis impersonator, Matt Birse has been performing his tribute to The King for seven years and is a regular at the annual Parkes Elvis Festival.

“Matt as Elvis brings the style, sights and sounds of Elvis, mixing mingling and serenading the audience in a dazzling performance. Each show recreates the suits, flair, electricity, and the music of The King,” says Peter Vawser.

“Matt wears tailor-made replicas of the original suits to make the show more authentic, with backing provided by live five-piece band All the King’s Men that gives the show the added touch.”

Tusk!FM pay tribute to Fleetwood Mac and cover their greatest hits from the early days, right through to the most recent recordings.

“We promise to take the audience on a journey of Mac magic, faithfully reproducing the sights and sounds of the iconic band. Classics will include ‘Go Your Own Way’, ‘Rhiannon’, ‘Dreams’, ‘The Chain’ and, of course, ‘Tusk!’”

Our goal for the show is to raise at least $2000 to help support the work of CanTeen in SA. But on the night, our audience will have the opportunity to relive, or experience for the first time, the very magic that is Fleetwood Mac and escape into the world of Elvis, becoming fully immersed as they dance and sing along to favourite tunes. And all while enjoying great food, fine company and helping to contribute to such a worthy cause,” Peter says.

We reckon that sounds like a great night out, so book your tickets today to join the fun for an excellent cause that will help CanTeen help the kids.
