The ever-popular Bowerbird Design Market, arguably Australia’s premier biannual art and design event is back for its eighth year and kicks off again for three days on Friday, May 5 at the Adelaide Showground – just one week before Mother’s Day.

Come and immerse yourself in a creative world of premium contemporary fashion, art and design with over 160 curated stalls from some of Australia’s best independent designers and makers. More than just a market, Bowerbird is a unique South Australian experience and a ‘must visit’ for those looking for that little (or big) something to make your home, or outfit, stand out from the crowd.

All stallholders are Australian and the designers of their finely crafted wares, so you can literally meet your makers.

The talented designers taking part from all around Australia in the first event of 2017, with the launch of new collections of autumn and winter clothing and accessories, beautiful ceramics, homewares and artworks, including woolens by Luna Gallery and Wendy Voon Knits, 100% vegan, small-batch, natural, mineral-based cosmetics from Gemma Vendetta, high visibility cycling gear from Hey Reflect’o, illustration from Kate Mason, stone and porcelain crockery from Clay By Khoa, boutique fashion label the wolf and I and so much more.

This jam-packed three-day program also includes pop-ups, design displays, interactive demonstrations and workshops, activities for the kids, plus a delicious selection of local artisan-made food and craft beverages with a live DJ spinning some tasty tunes on the Friday night.

Bowerbird Design Market is the endeavour of local Adelaide creative, Jane Barwick and this is what she had to say about the event’s resounding success year in, year out.

“It’s inspiring to see just how popular the event has become. What started from a passion for supporting independent Australian creatives almost eight years ago has now grown to become one of the biggest and most anticipated art and design events in the country. It’s the sense of community and the chance to find beautiful products that you won’t find elsewhere that brings people flocking. A lot of heart and soul goes into every aspect and you will always find something new.”
