Mary’s Poppin has become a well-loved Adelaide hotspot since its opening in 2016.
The Mary’s Diva Awards are a colourful expression of love and tribute to our favourite and most iconic Divas (as well as a enjoyable opportunity to take cheap shots at them).
Hosted by the hilarious Joan Rivers (Aiden Varnas is incredible) who’s funny even from beyond the grave: “Does this tampon make me look fat”?, the show is an absolute riot and a total must-see.
Joan introduces our divas throughout the evening, dishing out awards and insults while we sit back and enjoy belting out all our favourite songs performed by the dragged-up divas themselves.
Adele’s performance was truly exceptional as Stacy Queen lip syncs for her life on stage! Her lip syncing abilities are second to none and she doesn’t miss a beat, even when talking with the audience; she completely embodies Adele.
Other fantastic performances were from Pink, Britney Spears, Celine Dion, our beloved Kylie Minogue and of course Cher!
We thoroughly enjoyed the sing-a-long moments (especially to Titanic’s My Heart Will Go On) and overall energy of the performances.
There’s plenty of laughs to be had and a lot of joy to share in Mary’s Divas Spectacular so if you love a good drag show and celebrating out local queens please come along, have a Schlong (Island Iced Tea) and rub shoulders with some A-list Divas (who’d have thought you’d get the opportunity to see Joan Rivers in the flesh)!
There are some truly exceptional performances in the Mary’s Divas Spectacular from our local divas. PLEASE follow them and show your support for our talented Adelaide drag community! You can catch them performing your favourites every weekend at Mary’s Poppin.
