Rock fans are in for a Christmas treat with the return of legendary American rock band Living Colour to our city when they barnstorm The Gov in December!
Those who saw them last time they made it town will know that these guys put on a full-on high energy show, filled with the power and muscle of the songs that made them so popular and critically successful way back in the ‘80s and ‘90s.
Led by the charismatic and awesomely talented guitarist Vernon Reid, this tour will see the band focusing on playing all the highlights from their lauded debut album, Vivid.
So that will mean we get to hear a raft of unforgettable songs such as Cult Of Personality, Middle Man, Open Letter (To A Landlord), Glamour Boys and Memories Can’t Wait in their full raucous and rhythmic glory!
The band are also promising to play a range of the much-loved songs from the rest of their catalogue too, which should ensure we also get to hear classics such as Type, Love Rears Its Ugly Head, Go Away, Ignorance Is Bliss, Bi as well as tracks from their ‘comeback’ albums Collideoscope, The Chair In The Doorway and Shade.
Hindsight now clearly shows us all that this band was one, if not the, key pioneering influence who enabled a host of bands in their wake to freely interweave new connections between hard funk, metal and melodic rock to create a whole new strand of music.
With a cache of Grammy Awards tucked away in their trophy cabinet, in addition to a steady stream of critical praise for their recordings and their live shows, Living Colour are clearly a band worthy of working into your December social calendar!
Living Colour will play The Gov on Monday December 17.
