It’s no secret Lauren Connelly is one of Adelaide’s best and brightest photographers, but if you haven’t been privy to the awesome that is Lala Photo, tonight’s the night to do it!
Since her last successful showing, From the Pit in 2015, Lauren (of Lala Photo fame) has been busy snapping musos both locally and nationally and she’s put her experiences into an exhibition opening upstairs at the Grace Emily tonight from 6pm.
Featuring live performances by local artists Alana Jagt, Mule and Jessica Johns, Graduation will exhibit a collection of mages from 2015-2018.
Having photographed the likes of Tropical F*ck Storm, Caiti Baker, West Thebarton, Gang of Youths, Luca Brasi, Frenzal Rhomb, High Tension, Courtney Barnett, Stella Donnelly and more, Lauren has also worked as official photographer for Triple J at St. Jerome’s Laneway and Splendour in the Grass festivals.
She has also recently been nominated for the first Live Music Photographer of the Year Award in the 2018 National Live Music Awards.
This year, Lauren graduated with a Bachelor of Media and Photography from the University of Adelaide having developed a strong portraiture portfolio featuring a variety of up and coming Adelaide musicians, artists and identities such as Naomi Keyte, Ruby Chew, Ashton Malcolm and Sose Fuamoli.
A challenging move away from live music, Lauren’s portrait photography is now some of her most recognised work.
With over 60 images on display, Graduation will show a chronological journey of music, portrait and lifestyle photography, which celebrates Lauren’s university graduation and the gradual progression of her photography from live music to portraiture.
Supported by Alpha Box and Dice, Graduation opens Thursday 29 November upstairs at the Grace Emily at 6pm so get along and see for yourself the work of this legend in the making.
