SOON YOULL SEE THEM, THEN YOU WON’T – COMEDY ROYALTY STEVE MARTIN & MARTIN SHORT ARE HEADING TO ADELAIDE FOR A ONE-OFF PERFORMANCE!

Comedy legends Steve Martin and Martin Short have been friends for over thirty years after meeting for the first time whilst filming The Three Amigos with Chevy Chase.

In 2016, they teamed up to create a live show – A Very Stupid Conversation – that was followed by the even more successful show, An Evening You Will Forget For The Rest Of Your Life, also filmed for a Netflix special which garnered universally rave reviews.

Now the duo have devised a new show, entitled Now You See Them, Soon You Won’t, that they will be bringing to Australia later this year. The good news is that the tour will include a one night only performance at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Monday November 11!

Both performers have enjoyed highly successful careers in film, theatre, television and in  print, and subsequently will bring a wealth of comedic experience to the show.

Martin has come along way since he started his working life as a shop assistant in a magic shop learning sleight of hand tricks, juggling and how to make balloon animals. His career trajectory saw him become a television comedy writer for acts such as The Smothers Brothers before branching out into stand-up comedy where his wild and crazy guy persona proved a hit, and a significant influence on the generations of comedians who followed in his wake.

His Hollywood curriculum vitae includes starring roles in classic films such as The Jerk, The Man With Two Brains, All Of Me and family oriented comedies such as The Three Amigos and Father Of The Bride.

Since then he has branched out into more dramatic roles in films such as Grand Canyon and The Spanish Prisoner.

He has also been a prolific writer, publishing a memoir, plays, novels, as well as collections of essays and his short humorous prose.

Martin is an accomplished musician and will be bringing his bluegrass group, the Grammy Award winning Steep Canyon Rangers along for this Australian tour. No doubt that will see local audiences getting to hear Martin’s impressive banjo playing skills live on stage.

After making his film debut in The Three Amigos, Martin Short has become a much-loved comedic actor who has earned accolades in film, theatre and television. Initially discovered on Canadian television he was  lured south to join the on-screen crew on the high rating American satirical variety show, Saturday Night Live.

His popularity on this hugely influential programme led to him being offered movie roles in successful films like InnerSpace, Mars Attacks, and the Father Of The Bride franchise.

Short has also won awards for his theatrical performances on the stage, including a Tony Award for his performance in the revival of Little Me, as well as a further nomination for his performance in Neil Simon’s The Goodbye Girl.

On the small screen, Short has earned two Emmy Awards and has appeared in popular series such as Merlin and Damages.

He published his memoir in 2014, two decades after being awarded the Order of Canada honour for his work in the entertainment industry.

Together, Martin & Short perform a show that is full of self-deprecating humour, subversive in nature and often rife with diversions where they each try and make each other laugh as well as their audience. This playful roasting of each other is full of heart and affection, which provides a contrast with their more mocking commentary on Hollywood and the fickle nature of stardom and celebrity.

The show promises rapid-fire jokes, with little set-up and big punchlines, which should have the audience aching with laughter.

Now You See Them, Soon You Won’t promises to be one show Adelaide audiences will not want to miss.
