Expect beautiful vocal performances backed by a fabulously groovy band who never miss a beat. Bond Songs: The Music of 007 has something for everyone—classic songs from a bygone era, Oscar-winning tracks, and amazing anecdotes and tidbits seamlessly peppered throughout the show.
This is the perfect show to enjoy with a beverage, whether you’re with a date or your mates.
This show could have simply presented a tracklist of songs in chronological order, but the selections were clearly carefully considered and beautifully arranged. During the cover of ‘Cry Me a River’ it was hard to take my eyes off the drummer—but that’s not to say the vocals were lacking. Leticia Lee and Oliver John were the perfect duo to deliver each and every song, performing with confidence, class, and powerhouse vocals. A personal favourite was Lee’s solo cover of ‘Surrender’ by k.d. lang. I hadn’t even realised this was a Bond song, and I delightfully discovered many others to fall in love with again throughout the performance.
Whilst Chris Cornell’s grungy ‘You Know My Name’ was not Oliver John’s natural style, he still made it his own, surprising the audience again with another interesting inclusion in the repertoire.
Billie Eilish’s contribution to the Bond franchise with ‘No Time to Die’ was simply stunning—a flawless performance by Lee. Lee and John’s voices complemented each other beautifully, and it delighted the audience when they surprised us with typically solo songs re-arranged as duets. The band also amazed the audience by moving effortlessly between a variety of instruments and styles, and they should take equal credit for the success of the show. Bond Songs: The music of 007, packed so many songs into the hour that I felt like I’d been to a full concert – no easy feat.
I enjoyed every moment of this entertaining show. Bond Songs: The Music of 007 oozes confidence and style. It’s the kind of show you could see twice—and love even more the second time!
