Chinese New Year is almost upon us and to celebrate, The Adelaide Festival Centre is set for a night of magical music.
Treasures of the Nation is a stunning display of Chinese music for one night only in February as part of the 2016 Adelaide Fringe.
Showing at the Dunstan Playhouse on February 18 Treasures of the Nation will be the Adelaide debut for the award-winning Chinese Music Orchestra, where audiences will see them play traditional music as well as popular instrument work using a combination of western and eastern instruments including the sheng, an ancient flute, the liuqin mandolin, and the gaohu and erhu, sometimes referred to as “the Chinese fiddle”.
The 43-piece orchestra is part of the prestigious China National Opera and Dance Drama Theatre and led by renowned conductor Xia Hong.
Treasures of the Nation is set to showcase China’s diverse musical heritage and introduce audiences to a new world of music, stunning visuals and ring in the year of the monkey in spectacular style.
