Asher Treleaven and Gypsy Wood are at their hilarious best in Peter and Bambi Heaven: The Magic Inside.
Perfectly playing their roles as the reigning king and queen of the Gold Coast magic circuit, the couple have put together a weirdly wacky and pant-wettingly funny show.
The real life couple work beautifully together and have wonderful comic chemistry and timing; they would have had a lot of fun putting this show together.
The dance routines are terrifically ambitious, the costumes are fabulously malfunctional, and the magic tricks are actually really good.
Gypsy is so expressive; she’s such a natural comic and just a joy to watch, and Asher has a great stage presence, with superb characterisation – their show is a well-constructed piece with some very, very funny moments.
The Deluxe at Garden of Unearthly Delights is an excellent venue for a show like this one, and the sound was good, but there were a few moments where Peter and Bambi could have had better lighting on them.
You need to approach this show with an open mind; it’s bizarre, quirky and not for the easily offended; it would have suited a later timeslot, but as it is, it leaves you feeling elated and pumped up for the night ahead.
Don’t forget to buy some honey afterwards.
