Next Wednesday 24th January, Expressions Media and Emma Coyle are holding a DIY PR workshop to help artists, musicians and businesses promote their wares.

Publicist, journalist and teacher Libby Parker (Expressions Media, Adelaide Festival, The Upside News) has joined forces with Emma Coyle (manager of artists such as Paul Kelly, Sarah Blasko and Heaps Good Friends) to present a two-hour workshop at Adelaide’s favourite karaoke bar, La Sing.

“I am thrilled to be presenting a DIY PR workshop to Adelaide artists and businesses alongside music industry guru Emma Coyle. There are so many exciting events coming up and we want to share the dos and don’ts of PR as well as some tricks of the trade with event creators,” Libby Parker says. “It takes a lot to put together a show or event and it takes just as much to promote it to the masses. We are giving workshop participants an insight into how media, promotion and publicity works, as well as some useful take-home resources.”

Emma Coyle said: “With so many local artists finding new audiences during the festival season, the timing is perfect to learn some PR skills and make sure as many people as possible know about your upcoming show. A strong media release and the right approach to media can make all the difference in regards to publicity outcomes. The workshop will also present the perfect opportunity to meet other local artists in our community and grow your networks.”

Workshop participants will receive a media release template, a directory of media contacts, some tips and tricks for selling an event or product and a lot of great ideas and techniques.

Held at late night karaoke haunt, La Sing, the DIY PR workshop will be an excellent opportunity to ask advice, network with peers and industry experts, and see the Gouger Street club at the respectable early evening hours of 6:30pm – 8:30pm.
