Thrones! is a must-see at this year’s Fringe for anyone who is a fan of Game of Thrones; this is one cleverly constructed musical comedy that really delivers on the laughs.
Parody shows can be hit and miss, but this is right on the mark. The songs are great fun, the cast is engaging and the voices are superb throughout. It pokes some good natured fun at some of the stranger aspects of the television show (and the book series), while maintaining an affection for it.
There is much to enjoy here: highlights include the Jon Snow impersonation, a Dothraki sex scene and Danaerys’ ever growing list of titles.
If you are among the one percent of the population who has never seen the TV show, this won’t make any sense at all. But for everyone else, go grab a ticket!
Thrones! performs at the Umbrella Revolution in the Garden of Unearthly Delights until the end of Fringe, with details here.
