ADELAIDE FRINGE REVIEW: BEN HARTBELIEF?PARASOL, GLUTTONY, 2018.

Belief? is the new live solo show from critically acclaimed British performer Ben Hart. If you’re a lover of all things magic, then this is the show for you.

Whilst it took a while for the show to gain momentum, once it did, audience members were left awestruck trying to figure out how the affable Brit managed to make things miraculously move or disappear. Hart’s lovable demeanour, and playful banter made him all the more endearing, and his awkward fumbling a clever distractor from the stealth moves that enables his magic to unfold.

A highlight was definitely his intertwined rings trick, which still has me scratching my head in disbelief. Hart’s card sequence to conclude the show also drew audible gasps from the audience.

Belief? would appeal to many, with even the younger members of the audience being enticed up on stage. Hart’s rapport with the audience, and his ability to incorporate them into his show, made it all the more enjoyable. Sceptics made have difficulty embracing Belief?, however those with the ability to suspend ‘belief’ at the door, will be thoroughly entertained.
