ADELAIDE FRINGE REVIEW: KILLJOYDESTROY THE FANTASY, GLUTTONY 2018

Theatre is never more powerful than when it contains a social message, but when that theatre is also circus, live music, dance, comedy and cabaret, it is beyond compelling.

I loved Killjoy – Destroy the Fantasy. I thought it was perfect.

Presented by Laser Beanz Productions, Killjoy sees Cat Scobie, Mahla Bird and Amy Broomstick (Bam Bam) present a series of vignettes which disrupt the fantasy of feminism, accompanied by a slick live band.

Each vignette is as poignant and important as the last, and each performance is flawless and formidable.

The audience cheered, hooted and stamped their feet throughout the 80 minute show, which challenged, confronted and entertained – not an easy mix to master, but they did.

Killjoy is a must see, and it left me (a middle aged feminist) feeling confident the future of feminism is in good hands.

Sexy, funny, awe-inspiring, moving and just damned brilliant, this show exceeded my expectations and then some.

Shout out to Rin McArdle for her exceptional vocals which were spine-tingling, and her bandmates who were also spectacular.
