Girls Rock! Adelaide is set to host their first major fundraiser gig to raise money to carry out their first week-long camp in July 2019.
With an amazing lineup of South Australian female identifying musicians and DJs, the concert will take place at the brand new Lions Arts Factory on Saturday March 30.
Headlining the event will be winners of the 2017 Best New Artist and 2018 Best Pop Artist at the South Australian Music Awards, Heaps Good Friends, supported by Alt-Country outfit Dead Roo, Indie/Folk group Hey Harriet, Indie Rock trio Contract Love and newcomers to the Adelaide music scene, the powerhouse two piece Teenage Joans.
Revellers can enjoy live music from 2pm – 7pm and kick on until late with with a selection of strong South Australian female DJ’s including Jessi Jacoby (Basementality), Bad Jelly DJ’s and Jessi Lou (PAK Music).
Girls Rock Adelaide! Co-director, Hannah Fairlamb is excited about this upcoming event and speaks enthusiastically of the year ahead for the organisation.
“Since our launch in February it has been so incredible to see the amount of goodwill and support there is in the community for Girls Rock! This year holds so many exciting things for us, including promoting some of South Australia’s best female and gender diverse artists at our fundraisers. We can’t wait to put on our first program in July,” she says.
Girls Rock! Adelaide is a not for profit community youth organisation, which uses the medium of music to inspire confidence, encourage creativity, celebrate individuality and ensure opportunity for young female identifying and non binary people aged 13 – 17.
Tickets are available now for the inaugural fundraiser through Moshtix, with all proceeds going towards facilitating the first Girls Rock! Adelaide camp in July 2019, where participants will have the opportunity to develop their creativity in a safe space led by female and gender diverse musicians and industry practitioners.
Girls Rock! officially launched in Adelaide on February 7 to a packed room at the Lion Arts Factory, where guests were treated to a live performance by internationally acclaimed singer/songwriter Courtney Barnett, plus a panel discussion between Barnett, Sharni Honor (The Porch Sessions), Wallis Prophet (W.M.N/Draw Your (S)Words), and Nancy Bates (Singer/Songwriter).
