Adelaide’s GO LIVE initiative is coming to a close for 2020 but not before promoting some exciting gigs to South Aussie music lovers this month.
With music festival season all but coming to a grinding halt this year due to Covid-19, local artists have been our saving grace, instilling some joy and normalcy back into our lives.
Over 200 live gigs will take to Adelaide venues in the coming weeks, showcasing the talent of local artists in both solo and festival-like performances with line-ups set to have you tapping your feet.
Music SA’s GO LIVE gig guide is the oracle of music knowledge with the latest of where to go and what to listen to. Here’s just a taste of what’s on the menu:
The University of Adelaide will be host to Adelaide’s largest beer garden every Wednesday this December, hosting a plethora of local artists and bands at their month-long free event Cult on Green.
A live acoustic session, Cult on Green will see music-goers able to kick back with a drink and listen to the likes of acoustic artists Isaac Thomas, Jamie Wilson, The Max Headroom and The Public Holiday.
Also on the gig guide is Memory Castles debuting their newest single “Best/Worst/Girl-Friend” at Enigma Bar, which will breathe new life into Adelaide’s club scene on December 18 at 8:30pm giving South Australians the chance to enjoy an impressive punk-rock line-up of openers including Radix, Throwaway and Wolf & Chain.
Closer to Christmas you’ll be able to catch Katie Pomery and Lokky Sboro at the iconic Crown and Anchor on December 21, before Andy and the Rockits take us into the new year at The Tonsley Hotel on December 31.
A GO LIVE gig guide can be found on Umbrella Festival website detailing shows playing all across the state.
With the local music scene hit hard by Covid-19, there’s no better time to support your local artists and venues this holiday season.
In our most recent, albeit brief, lockdown, more than 120 gigs were cancelled, leaving many musicians without income. Music SA has been working throughout 2020 to offer ways to support our local music scene.
