WOMADelaide has revealed the final three artists to an already outstanding line-up for its 2021 event.
Unlike previous years, the sunset concert series will be held in King Rodney Park in Adelaide’s parklands from Friday 5 March to Monday 8 March 2021, due to Covid.
But while there’s a different format to the festival, there’s a stellar line up of artists gracing the stage.
Pitjantjatjara/Torres Strait Islander artist Miiesha and PNG-born, Melbourne-based artist Kaiit have joined the Sunday night set performing before Tash Sultana.
With a strong influence from R&B, gospel and spoken word, Miiesha sings of her people and community seeking to educate and inspire listeners.
Miiesha’s debut album Nyaaringu won the 2020 ARIA Award for Best Soul/R&B Release and was voted Album of the Year by Themusic.com and NME.
Kaiit’s return to the WOMADelaide stage is an exciting one after winning the 2019 ARIA award for Best Soul/R&B Release for her song ‘Miss Shaney’.
Kaiit’s musical passion has even impressed neo-soul queens Jill Scott and Erykah Badu with them claiming her on Instagram as their ‘musical love child from Down Under’.
WOMADelaide Associate Director, Annette Tripodi says “we are overjoyed to now have three incredibly talented artists – all in their early twenties, but who’ve already achieved so much – on the lineup for the Sunday night of the festival, each bringing their intensely personal stories and musical styles to the stage,” she says.
The third act announced today is Adelaide’s Siberian Tiger who will open for Teskey Brothers and Midnight Oil on Monday 8 March.
Partners in both music and life, Siberian Tiger’s Bree Tranter and Chris Panousakis will take the stage after a remarkable first year accompanied by a string quartet.
