This week, 21st Century Burlesque Magazine (known by those in the business as ‘The Burlesque Bible’) released its coveted Top 50 and homegrown hottie Lyra LaBelle has been named.

Celebrating her 50th birthday last year by being the first South Australian ever to headline the Australian Burlesque Festival, Lyra has gone on to prove that age is no barrier by continuing her accolades with a well-earned position at the top of the sublist of the Most Influential Industry Figures in Australia.

“I am so thrilled, I can’t stop smiling,” Lyra says. “21st Century Burlesque is one of the most important publications in our community and being named as number 10 is such an honour. I feel privileged to be representing South Australia on the list and putting us on the map, because we have an incredible community of talented performers here and no one from our state has ever been named on this list before.”

Lyra LaBelle is founder and director of Hotsauce Burlesque, a dance school that celebrates new and classic burlesque and welcomes people of all ages, backgrounds and fitness levels. 

With a career spanning decades and continents, the award-winning femme fatale has danced across stages in London, Edinburgh, New York, Hollywood, Vegas, and Australia.

“I’m so proud to be recognised, especially as a woman now in her fifties, who has no intentions of slowing down anytime soon,” Lyra says. “Kicking off 2026 with this amazing news has made me even more excited about all the new classes we just released as well as our upcoming Fringe shows.”

You can catch the queen of the scene in her show The Gin House Burlesque Revue at Adelaide Fringe from 26 February to 19 March at Prohibition Liquor Co, featuring speakeasy vibes, feathered showgirls, clandestine burlesquers, a live band and giant martini glass.

And for a limited season, Hotties will showcase the work of Lyra’s students on March 18, followed by Hot Pop & Glam Rock Revue on March 20 and 21, with both shows hosted by the legend herself, playing at Goodwood Theatres.
