Award-winning comedy tackles taboo pelvic health with cackles, crochet & candour this Fringe

What happens when your pelvic floor goes rogue, and no one taught you what to do about it? Well, NZ comedian and clinical psychologist Nicola Brown answers that question this Fringe with biting wit, jaw-dropping honesty and a delightful cast of giant crocheted organs.

Nicola Brown: Space Invaders is the smash hit solo show coming to Adelaide this Fringe 20–28 February at The Howling Owl and it is set to educate, empower and maybe cause a little light bladder leakage from the some big laughs.

Smart, hilarious and disarmingly personal, Space Invaders wrangles perplexing bodies, infuriating medical communication, and a parade of romance scammers who’ve failed to notice how gay Nicola is.

The result is a comedy hour that turns an everyday but rarely discussed health issue — pelvic organ prolapse — into something audiences recognise, gasp at and can’t stop thinking about.

Equal parts stand-up, storytelling and public service announcement, Space Invaders proves that comedy can be shame-busting, laugh-out-loud funny and persuasively life-changing.

Nicola is assisted by a gaggle of overly friendly random men from social media, some astonishing crocheted anatomy, and the occasional Venn diagram — because humour does what silence, embarrassment and shabby pamphlets never could.
