I’m going to preface this by saying that Ryan Mason is not the least bit disappointing. He is intelligent, charming, charismatic, and his jokes are beautifully written and skilfully performed.
Ryan’s self-deprecating schtick is one of the most endearing things about him because it brings elements of suprise and delight to every delivery. He draws you in with an anecdote, slam dunks a punchline and is already setting up for the next joke while you’re still enjoying the last. Ryan is a smart comic who keeps the show and the audience in a constant state of elation.
From family ties to colour blindness, Ryan regales us with the tales of his dual pursuit to be a comic and to gain his father’s pride.
He tells us this is an old show, but there is definitely renewed energy and confidence, and I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us next Fringe!
And while I am confident his parents are not disappointed in him, I can also safely say every member of the audience walk out of his show with a place in their heart for this extremely likeable comic who is destined for a long and impressive career.
