The WOMADelaide media conference, accompanied by the enthusiastic attitudes of 13 Headliner journalists, produced a highly successful afternoon. Hours before opening, the atmosphere of the park was vibrant and bustling with uncontained excitement.

The RCC pulled together quite a line-up for the principal gig of their Fringe program. Originally announced as original members of Pussy Riot re-uniting for the first time, (a major coup in itself) we then had the additions of Yothu Yindi, Rev Billy & the Stop Shopping Choir, Cash Savage & the Last Drinks and Ecca Vandal – the event turning into a mini-festival.
Day one of WOMADelaide 2019 was filled with energy, joy and musical diversity and has set the bar high for the days to come!
Down at the botanical Gardens on the 8th of March, global artists and media eagerly swarmed to the stage for their first look at the sacred grounds that they were soon to rattle.
Guitar master Harts will play WOMADelaide this Monday evening in a one off festival appearance with his full band. A later addition to the bill, it was a chance occurrence at an Adelaide gig back in November that led to his inclusion.
Englishman, Dan Clews’ The James Taylor Story, is an Adelaide Fringe show that will please all acoustic music fans and deserves a full house every night.
Orbital were exciting, uplifting and mesmeric at the RCC on Sunday night – and seemed genuinely excited to be playing to such an appreciative RCC crowd, but Severed Heads were not quite as inspired on the night.
