BELLY OF A DRUNKEN PIANO SET TO INTOXICATE AT ADELAIDE FRINGE

After the success of My Leonard Cohen, the sold out smash hit of the 2017 Adelaide Fringe, multi-award winning performer, composer and artistic director Stewart D’Arrietta returns to Adelaide with the world premiere of his latest work, Belly Of A Drunken Piano.

Turning his hand to some grittier ‘down and dirty’ material from some of the most enigmatic, intelligent and influential songwriters of our time, D’Arrietta has created an underworld in the belly of his piano.

Tracing the meandering path of every staggering drunk, and every tragic romance with dynamic delivery and bursting with emotion, audiences are set to be spellbound by D’Arrietta’s signature raw vocal style.

“I’m excited to play Tom Waits’ music at this year’s Adelaide Fringe” says D’Arrietta. “I did a Tom Waits show for five years in New York, until Tom Waits closed me down with a ‘cease and desist order’. In this show I perform not only Tom Waits songs but also Randy Newman, Ian Dury, Charles Bukowski and others.”

Stewart D’Arrietta is a prolific composer, highly regarded musical director, performer and producer.

His show, My Leonard Cohen was a hit at Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2016 and 2017; and sold out at the Sydney Opera House and Adelaide Fringe.

His other show Lennon Through A Glass Onion has enjoyed success worldwide for over 25 years, and is currently still touring.
