Arguably one of Adelaide’s best live acts, Wing Defence has just dropped their new single ‘Cuts’.

The evolution of the Wing Defence sound can be tracked over their last year of releases but the strength of the dynamic between Skye Walter and Paige Court on record and on stage has always remained strong.

Signing with European label Dock 7 and attracting acclaim from national media, Apple Music (Best of the Week, The New Rock) and triple j, as well as being 2018 SA Music Awards nominees (Best Video, Best New Artist, Best Release, Most Popular Punk Artist), Wing Defence have found their sonic identity and both the industry and audiences alike have lapped it up.

In the space of just one year, the pop-punk duo have taken full flight; from determining their sound on debut single ‘Stuck’, and thriving through the release of ‘Listerine’ and ‘Hindsight’, Wing Defence now embrace the beginning of a brand new chapter, unveiling the emotional new track in ‘Cuts’.

Generating hype that was quick to be delivered on at BIGSOUND, on stages alongside Polish Club, The Vanns and West Thebarton, as well as at South Australian legs of the Laneway Festival and Groovin The Moo, Wing Defence have established themselves as a formidable presence on the thriving South Australian music scene, marked by a sold out hometown show of their own earlier this year.

‘Cuts’ is an inward look at the ups and downs and unpredictability of the dating realm from Walter’s point of view, where there seem to be less and less frameworks for traditional success.

Recorded at Repeater in Adelaide and mastered by Rick O’Neil (Silverchair, You Am I, Powderfinger), Wing Defence channels raw honesty on the track, in the same vein as Ruby Fields and Alex The Astronaut.
