Are you ready for your Appraisal at Adelaide Fringe?

Following a sold-out season at Edinburgh Fringe, Appraisal is heading down under, brought to us by first time presenter Amie Kendall who is also moonlighting as a public servant.

A two-hander that explores the process of an annual staff work review gone horribly wrong, the drama follows Jo, a senior manager, who needs to appraise head of department Nicky’s work.

Nicky just wants to keep working, and what follows is a powerplay of manipulation, subtext and subterfuge exploring explosive consequences arising out of a seemingly innocent conversation.

A brand-new play by award-winning writer Tim Marriott (Mengele, Shell Shock), Amie says Appraisal will resonate with anyone who has ever had a job.

“Being rehearsed abroad, this show presents experiences everyone can relate to at some point. Ever been passed over for promotion because you’re too good to lose? Ever had someone promoted because HR didn’t want to deal with them? This show’s for you! It’s drama with a twist, and the twist is good!” she says.

Featuring an international cast who will be meeting for the first time in Adelaide, Appraisal is playing at Goodwood Theatre until Sunday 26 February.

“Nicholas Collett, who is currently in Florida but based in London plays Jo. Emily-Jo Davison who is based in Adelaide plays Nicky. For this show, they have been learning and rehearsing via Zoom and have never met in person,” she says.
