A cooler but temperate Monday made for the perfect atmosphere to soak up the last of the WOMAD action for 2019.

The RCC pulled together quite a line-up for the principal gig of their Fringe program. Originally announced as original members of Pussy Riot re-uniting for the first time, (a major coup in itself) we then had the additions of Yothu Yindi, Rev Billy & the Stop Shopping Choir, Cash Savage & the Last Drinks and Ecca Vandal – the event turning into a mini-festival.
Guitar master Harts will play WOMADelaide this Monday evening in a one off festival appearance with his full band. A later addition to the bill, it was a chance occurrence at an Adelaide gig back in November that led to his inclusion.
This Land is the best work to date from Gary Clark Jr., gathering together the elements that have worked so well for the artist before, but also moving in bold new directions.
Melody and Lucinda Beck are a very talented duo, who bring Rita Hayworth and Mae West to life in Sinsational, an entertaining cabaret performed at the wonderful Masonic Lodge Gluttony space.
A Z-Star show is quite an experience. Negotiating drums, guitar and vocals, Zee Gachette is an exceptional performer. Although softly spoken between songs, she has an arresting stage presence.
British magician Ben Hart is here for his second Fringe, performing The Nutshell in the Garden of Unearthly Delights through to March 17. It’s not your average magic show, taking the audience into some philosophical and occasionally dark territory.
A Bowie circus is the Fringe show we didn’t know we needed, mixing one of music’s great catalogues with some terrific circus acts.
With their second album all recorded and soon to be released, Woolongong’s The Pinheads are currently out on an extensive national tour that brings them to Adelaide this Thursday night, playing the Crown and Anchor.
