Truckload Of Sky – The Lost Songs Of David McComb provided fans with a magnificent celebration of the life and artistry of a much-missed Australian musical titan.
The album’s first single, ‘Caution’ is reminiscent of the band’s much-loved albums Sam’s Town and Battle Born, and it finds The Killers evoking the spirit of ambitious reinvention matched with the kind of anthemic chorus to which they’ve become synonymous.
It was another sun-drenched day for the Sunday of WOMADelaide 2020 and, while the program may have been missing some of the star power of other days, there was a host of great performances to enjoy.
Two of Us is the latest offering from Adelaide duo Harry and Lucy. Their show covers some of the greatest duets in popular culture, with their set broken into four parts – best friends, lovers, family talent and when the stars align.
Three chords, blood sweat and Gucci billboards! Amyl and the Sniffers were a true RCC – Fringe festival highlight bringing in punters from far and wide exclusively to witness.
Our highlights for the second day of this year’s WOMADelaide included The Blind Boys of Alabama, Rhiannon Giddens with Francesco Turrisi, Aldous Harding, Spinifex Gum, Dyson Stringer Cloher and Salif Keita.
Winefulness is completely and utterly relatable. York’s connection with her audience is undeniable; the performer was hell-bent on them having a good time. As the people poured out of The Parlour with smiles ear to ear, it was clear York achieved her objective. Cheers to that!
While their Fringe season may be over, Motown Connections are regulars on the Adelaide circuit, and if you’re a lover of all things sixties soul, then you must keep an eye out for their next show.
