Who will be the Maestro of Adelaide Fringe? You decide!

With a different show and cast every night, but the same hilarity and excitement, local improv troupe On The Fly are back at Adelaide Fringe with Maestro.

Playing at brand new venue Prompt Creative Centre until 23 February, Maestro pits Adelaide’s funniest and brightest improvisers against each other in a winner-takes-all battle for glory.

With everything made up on the spot, the show is an unscripted, wild ride from start to finish and improviser Kirsty Wigg says it’s an interactive show where anything can happen.

Maestro is improv comedy mixed with Survivor or the Hunger Games!” she says. “We perform completely improvised short scenes and games, and then the audience gets to be the judge and scores each scene. Players are eliminated round by round until one final champion remains.

“Our cast is made up of local Adelaide improvisers ready to delight you. This year we have a vibrant mix of Adelaide Fringe veterans with eight or more years’ experience, with some fresher faces who you might not have seen before, but are hungry for your scores! Plus you might even see a couple of interstate guests joining us here and there.”

A show that is suitable for young and not-as-young audiences, Kirsty says Maestro gives you the chance to be the judge, jury, witness, and gentle-executioner.

Maestro is a G-rated show, so bring the family along! Everyone young and old will get a thrill out of seeing us make up incredible comedy on the spot and hold a story together under any and all circumstances, like having to only speak in rhyme or slowly turn into a chameleon during the scene,” she says. “You get to be involved in the show not only by your scores, but also inspiring us with your suggestions – and you might even have a song created just for you!

“The show has been a Fringe favourite for over a decade, so come and see what all the fuss is about and why people love coming back year after year. You can even come back every night this Fringe, because with our rotating cast, and everything being improvised, it’ll be a new show every night!”
