Self Help Yourself with Bill Egan is the latest comedy special from one of Adelaide’s most popular comics and it’s set to be an exercise in spontaneity and spiritualism.
The original farce based on a true story is playing at Prompt Creative Centre during Adelaide Fringe and tells the hysterical story of a corrupt priest, a crap musician, an incompetent politician, and an entrepreneurial sex worker attempting to profit from the suffering.
Performing at Adelaide’s newest venue, Prompt Creative Centre, the international festival veteran promises a hilarious, mysterious and fabulous Fringe experience for the whole family.
“It’s surreal absurdism at its finest. It builds upon a simple joke, adding layer after layer, in increasing ridiculousness. It’s a farce with an underlying social commentary on fame and success.”
With the show promising to reveal the secrets of both Shaun the artist and Abril LaTrene the glam alter-ego, this is a drag show unlike any other you’ve ever seen.
The one-hour, one-woman comedy show includes stand-up, sketch comedy and clowning, and is the perfect night out with friends, especially the spinsters.
We had the best day at Heaps Good Festival on Friday, with Kay Cann capturing all the action in this gallery.
Heaps Good is a fantastic addition to Adelaide’s festival calendar and will hopefully be a fixture in future years.
Mum Thinks Blue was announced in November as winners of the Triple J Unearthed competition to join this stellar line-up of international and Australian acts, headlined by Arctic Monkeys and including G-Flip, King Stingray, CHVURCHES and Spacey Jane.
The opening night audience loved every moment of the show and the cast showed their professionalism to the last moment as they took their well-deserved bows and left the stage without milking the applause. Style to the very end!
