One minute, your heart will warm with a story of her struggles through a health condition, the next minute you’re howling with laughter at something unexpectedly crass and totally gutter level. That’s the way comedy should be.
The intimacy of the venue, in conjunction with the honest delivery of her performance, made the audience feel like they were in familiar company; a toast of whiskey at the end solidifying the sense of connection felt within room come the show’s conclusion.
Morris’ work will be challenging for some, and may not be to everyone’s taste, but for those who like their Fringe shows on the quirkier side, then you’ll enjoy the performer’s latest offering.
Whilst comedian Evan Desmarais’ unfettered honesty made for some brief moments of audience discomfort, overall, it is actually a heart-warming tale of human yearning and our ever-changing sense of our own life’s priorities.
